Gerald has taught music in schools for 36 years, across Key Stages 1,2,3 and 4. He has been CRB checked.
He is pleased to work with schools to design music days. Each of these is developed to meet the specific learning objectives or needs of a school. Amongst Gerald's particular strengths are teaching singing, developing instumental performing ensembles and leading percussion work. Gerald is happy to create days linked with topics or themes, and will work with schools to ensure that the content of learning is suitable for all the children, and takes into account any with particular learning challenges.
Gerald has lead African drumming groups, and is happy to organise learning activities which develop ethnic themes.
Gerald has a wide experience of performing and teaching as a pianist. He is an official accompanist for the Chelmsford Competitive Music Festival. He is available to accompany Associated Board of Music exams and for auditions. He is also available to help coach children, or adults, in auditions for musical shows, or those preparing entry interviews to performing colleges or university. He has tutored candidates for a wide range of theory papers, GCSE and A level music exams.
Gerald is available to play the organ for church servies, wedding and funerals. He regularly plays for services at St. John's Church [Church of England] in Moulsham Street, Chelmsford and at Trinity Methodist Church, Chelmsford.
